"Representative Bobby Rush (D-IL) filed a comprehensive anti-gun wish-list bill (HR 45) in the 111th Congress on its first day in session. No sooner were the new members of Congress sworn in than Mr. Rush, a former Black Panther leader, filed the bill. It has no cosponsors yet and was automatically referred to the House Judiciary Committee.

"If passed, it would require anyone wishing to purchase, own, or possess a 'qualifying firearm' -- that's any handgun, and any long gun that takes a detachable magazine -- would have to be licensed by the state or the federal government in a licensing program managed by the Attorney General.

"To get a license you would have to prove you're you, provide a passport-style photo, a thumbprint, and take a written exam which includes questions about firearms safety, safe storage, the risks of firearms ownership, and anything else the Attorney General deems appropriate. All transfers would be required to go through a licensed dealer with the exception of occasional gifts or bequests between parents, children over 18, and grandparents, or loans of not more than 30 days between 'persons who are personally known to one another.' All transfers would have to be recorded in a new 'Transfer Record' established and maintained by the Attorney General."

How many U.S Citizens are going to die becuase of the proposed gun ban, just like in NAZI Germany, Russia, China and other countries that imposed gun regristration then confiscation by the Government. Do you think that the criminals are going to turn their weapons in, they will never turn theirs in just look at Great Britan and Austrila for examples of the new gun regristration agenda! The real question is how many Americans will choose to do the right thing and DISOBEY this should it become law? Also, how many Americans will fight back should they attempt confiscation?

Bottom line with legislation this draconian. The only places laws like this will succeed, will be places where the laws are already as strict.

Good luck getting anyone in places like Alaska, Vermont, New Hampshire, or for that matter Texas to comply with this garbage.

[No More Illegal Bans]

Maybe some of these damn paranoid politicians should look at the FACTS of how these bans / removal of bans impact public safety. FACT: every state and every country that has increased regulations as to who can own firearms, where, when and/or what, has seen an INCREASE in violent crime. FACT: every state that has allowed for increase leniency in the RIGHT (not privilege) to keep and BEAR arms has seen a DECREASE in violent crime (typically corresponding to times of increased unemployment, lower wages, lower police presence etc. Factors that normally increase crime). Chicago has some of the strictest laws outside of the Rep. of California, and yet it is one of the most violent places in the US... But no one said you had to have reason or common sense to be a politician.

I'm not sure what state of mind Z3RO is in; apparently confused by facts like the Brady-ites and other pinheads. We all know that _only_ legally owned guns kill children.

This foolishness from Booby Rush just makes the point that gun regulations should be decided at the state level and not at the national level. In that way, self-destructive states like Illinois and California can enact their own crazy laws to support the criminal element while punishing law-abiding citizens. It's time that states-rights come first and red states unite against this idiocy.
