Jury Rights Day

The lamestream media told you:

Nothing.

The Uninvited Ombudsman notes however that:

A fully informed jury is a bedrock principle of American freedom. Simply put, a jury of your neighbors (“peers”) has the power to decide the facts in a case if you’re charged, and the righteousness of the law you’re charged under. If legislatures pass laws that are unfair, your neighbors (those pesky peers again) can let you go, even if you’re guilty under the facts. It’s an ideal check on the system -- prosecutors stop bringing bad cases, and legislatures stop the bad laws. It’s elegant, ingenious, a beautiful thing.

This played out swell in failed attempts to convict people helping slaves escape pre-civil war (deemed a crime), or catching grandmas with wine in the bathtub (during prohibition). The roots are in the trials of William Penn (Sep. 5, 1670) and John Peter Zenger (1735). The court told the juries to convict, and they refused (and were imprisoned for their audacity!). What good is a jury if it can’t make up its own mind?

Today, judges are determined to keep juries in the dark, won’t reveal excessive punishments awaiting minor offenses, give out checklists requiring convictions, and call fully informed jury actions “jury nullification,” a derogatory term meant to keep power away from juries and in judges’ hands. It’s a horrific abuse of power.

To combat this, three states have declared Jury Rights Day on Sep. 5th, to let the public know they, not the court, can decide the fate of a person charged, as it should be. The most recent declaration came from the great state of Alaska under... Governor Sarah Palin. Last year, in 2007.

Read Vin Suprynowicz’s marvelous piece on Jury Rights Day, and visit the fully informed jury association to educate yourself about this bulwark of liberty.

Do note however that if you are in a juror pool and talk up fully informed juries, they won’t let you sit on a panel. I did mention it’s a horrific abuse of power, right?

Bar Coding People

The lamestream media told you:

The good news is that 90 to 95% of the people from New Orleans have reached the evacuation areas, and have voluntarily taken wrist bracelets with bar codes on them so they could be safely evacuated, according to FOX news, 8/30/08.

The Uninvited Ombudsman notes however that:

Just think about that.
Bar codes for people.

Olympics Threaten Equality

The lamestream media told you:

The best athletes in the world assembled in China for their moment on the world stage.

The Uninvited Ombudsman notes however that:

The Olympics held in communist China have provided mathematical proof that men and women aren't equal, to the chagrin of feminists and other reality deniers on the political left.

All the top acrobatic gymnasts were girls, mostly little girls. All the top muscle gymnasts were young men. There was no crossover. Reports omitted mentioning the inequality, even though they showed it for the world to see, knowing many people cannot connect the dots. The fastest "people" in the world are black men, a fact you're not supposed to mention in polite company. Whites are inferior when it comes to such things. Whether blacks, like whites, are also inferior in some areas was unclear according to leading experts.

The most striking numerical difference was in shot-put, where the world's top women peaked at about 60 feet and the men couldn't exceed about 70 feet, a roughly 15% difference. Knowing they're unequal, they're allowed (required, actually) to participate in segregated competitions. No segregation charges have been filed.

Although a sense of justice and morality demands that people are entitled to equal treatment under law, the idea that men, women and the races are equal is pure nonsense. The solution is obvious. Instead of denying the obvious, celebrate the difference.

China's World Stage

The lamestream media told you:

China is on the world stage hosting the Olympic Games, and it wants to shine while on the world stage, having done all sorts of wonderful things for its time on the world stage.

The Uninvited Ombudsman notes however that:

"The world stage" is an effete, self-serving, self-congratulatory invention of the "news" media that creates this highly managed stage and then blows its own horn about how wonderful it is.

The communist Chinese have brutally suppressed opposition to its plans, and forced the closure of industry and banned vehicle traffic, to falsely present a world stage where you can actually see through its grossly polluted air.

The Uninvited Ombudsman admits to watching and enjoying the games on some evenings, and marveling at the prowess of the athletes, while recognizing and steadfastly resenting the "news" distortions and omissions about the vicious ChiCom dictatorship hosts and the media's sniveling gutless groveling pandering.

Journalists Define Journalism

The lamestream media told you:

Nothing.

The Uninvited Ombudsman notes however that:

Journalists seeking immunity from federal demands for their sources, notes, documents and other information are close to enacting the Free Flow of Information Act, S. 2035 (http://tinyurl.com/5r2mec). This would help ensure that the identity of people granted confidentiality, for information that would not otherwise be revealed, remains secret.

A double-edged sword, this protects traitors who leak government security secrets to the press, as well as whistleblowers who reveal malfeasance at great personal risk to themselves.

The interesting part of the bill, which applies to "covered persons" is the definition of such people, namely, those who are "engaged in journalism." That term would finally get an official definition under the proposed bill. Are you a journalist, or am I, and hence protected from the feds? See what you think:

Sec. 8 (5) JOURNALISM- The term 'journalism' means the regular gathering, preparing, collecting, photographing, recording, writing, editing, reporting, or publishing of news or information that concerns local, national, or international events or other matters of public interest for dissemination to the public.

The term does not include designated terrorists. I think I am. Covered, that is. I hope I never have to find out.

Boring Earthquake Glorified

The lamestream media told you:

Too much.

The Uninvited Ombudsman notes however that:

Los Angeles experienced a 5.4 magnitude earthquake, no major damage was apparent, no one was seriously hurt, the power didn't go out, traffic continued to flow, and every major news outlet stayed with the story for hours after the event had ended. With nothing significant to report, reporters took phone calls from people who felt the shaking.

The non-event preempted every other news story for hours, preventing news consumers eating lunch (like me) from getting any news about anything, on regular TV (C-SPAN aired the usual abuse from Congress uninterrupted). The breathless, monotonous hand wringing over nothing happening was abysmal, but just a step below the usual broadcasts.

Black Male Blackmail

The lamestream media told you:

Harriet Christian, a Hillary supporter, made national news when she spoke out publicly about the odd goings on within the Democrat party leadership in deciding to selectively admit and reject votes from Michigan and Florida. This was termed "punishment" for people making up their own minds about how to vote during caucuses. Her rant at the DNC received nearly a million hits on YouTube within 48 hours, and an exclusive interview on FOX-TV.

One of her claims, that people asked "Is the country ready for a woman as president," but didn't ask "Is the country ready for a black as president," has led some to claim she is a racist, but she was only repeating what people everywhere were saying.

The Uninvited Ombudsman notes however that:

As guest columnist Craig Cantoni made clear recently, "racist" and "racial" are not synonyms. Asking questions about race are racial questions, perfectly normal and legitimate in civilized conversation.

Harriet's point, long avoided by lamestream outlets, points to blatant racism and support of that racism by some blacks and some other people "of color," who effortlessly promote inequality and unequal treatment for themselves, self-imposed segregation, racial benefits and entitlements, and exclusionary practices that would receive fiery attacks if done by other groups, especially whites.

The racist hatred spewed from the pulpit of Obama's church -- and especially the wildly exuberant acceptance of it by the flock -- is a prime example, and has received some attention, finally forcing Obama to withdraw from his church of 20 years.

The issue though has not yet reached the endemic racist nature of structures like the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People, The United Negro College Fund, The National Council for The Race ("La Raza," a Hispanic group), Black History Month, Black Entertainment TV, or literally thousands of groups that place their race at the heart of their activities, instead of their activities at the heart of their activities.

People who examine these issues are traditionally attacked as racists, primarily by ethnic clusters of real racists, without examining the substance of the arguments.

Jews Score One

The lamestream media told you:

Nothing.

The Uninvited Ombudsman notes however that:

Former CIA director James Woosley, a Presbyterian, in an interview in Canada, makes a point often missed in the rancorous debates about Israel, anti-Semitism, and islamofascism. The idea that the law is above the rulers was handed to civilization by... the wandering Jews. In an article provocatively entitled, "We're All Jews," he writes:

"It's not only the other two great Abrahamic religions, Christianity and Islam, that owe a substantial debt to Judaism, it's the world as a whole. The reason is that between three and four millennia ago something happened in the Sinai among a tribe of refugees from Egyptian oppression that introduced the world to the concept of the rule of law -- the idea that the law is not the whim of, but rather has its source above, those who rule.

"This concept is at the heart of what makes decently-governed societies possible, whether you sign on to Jefferson's formulation that we are "endowed by our Creator" with basic rights or prefer the more secular notion of natural law..."

"This supremacy of the law is what most Americans mean when they say that we have a 'government of laws, not men...'"

"I've mainly been in synagogues for the bar mitzvas and bat mitzvas of friends' children. The next time you are, notice what the object of veneration is -- it is the Torah, the law itself. At a point in the service it is carried, lovingly, around the congregation, greeted as an old friend. I am convinced that it is this veneration of the law -- with its status above the ruler -- that is at the heart of anti-Semitism.

"Jews have almost always been the first target of tyrants, because their beliefs and religious practices, honed by nearly two millennia in Diaspora, clearly declare that in their view the law is above the ruler."

He makes a point. And his sorta defense of Nixon and Clinton as emblematic of the American non-empire is fresh thought worth reading.

Journalists Promote Segregation

The lamestream media told you:

[Actually, they only told themselves, in the industry trade publication, The Quill] The Hispanic news excellence contest is coming, sign up now, the Black Journalists reporters meeting is coming, sign up now...

The Uninvited Ombudsman notes however that:

The Uninvited Ombudsman does not participate in racially segregated events because it fosters racism, and such events are typically supported by racially oriented groups that deny their racism and are typically actively involved in accusing every one else of... racism.

Last month’s news media Ethics Week theme was, “Act Independently.” They just don’t get it.

It's Not China

The lamestream media told you:

China is having a crisis over the Olympic games to be held in China this summer. Chinese officials denounced pro-Tibet demonstrators saying the internal affairs of China should not affect the games.

The Uninvited Ombudsman notes however that:

Communist China is having a crisis over the Olympic games to be held in Communist China this summer. Pro-Tibet demonstrators denounced Communist Chinese officials saying the brutal suppression of Tibet should directly affect the games.
