Lightrail Delays Miraculous

The lamestream media told you:

The nation's newest light-rail metro-area commuter train has fallen behind schedule. From March to April, the Tempe, Ariz.-based portion of the project fell 79 days behind, and the Phoenix portion fell 90 days behind schedule.

The Uninvited Ombudsman notes however that:

This front page "news" story from the Arizona Republic fails to explain how a government construction project can fall 79 or even 90 days behind, in the 61 days of March and April. The possibility of this happening was not mentioned when the Republic lead what critics called a shameless cheerleading effort to take $2.1 billion from the public to build the glorified trolley system.

A letter from the Uninvited Ombudsman pointing this out was printed by the Republic, but no explanation or correction was released. Cost overruns from the delays were not mentioned.

The rider subsidy for the system, once built, will be paid largely by people who drive cars, and is estimated by critics at $12 per rider, in addition to the fare. Critics estimate that each projected rider could be provided with a Cadillac for less money, and with no construction delays, which are having a side effect of bankrupting businesses located along the line during the massive construction project.
